Nacha Issues Rules Supplement #1-2024
On March 15, 2024, Nacha’s Voting Membership approved amendments to the Nacha Operating Rules on the following topics:
- ACH Risk Management Topics:
- Codifying Expanded Use of Return Reason Code R17
- Expanded Use of ODFI Request for Return - R06
- Additional Funds Availability Exceptions
- Timing of Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit
- RDFI Must Promptly Return Unauthorized Debit
- Fraud Monitoring by Originators, Third-Party Service Providers/Third-Party Senders and ODFIs
- ACH Credit Monitoring by RDFIs
- Standard Company Entry Descriptions - PAYROLL and PURCHASE
- Minor Topics Rules Changes
The effective dates for these amendments range from June 21, 2024 to June 19, 2026. Please see the supplement (linked below) for details and the effective date of each rule change. To ensure compliance with the most current rules, the supplement should be used in conjunction with the 2024 edition of the Nacha Operating Rules.
