ATMIA has been informed that the State of New Jersey will begin the deployment of EMV chip cards for EBT transactions, beginning on May 1, 2026. All ATM operators, deployers, providers, and servicers should make the necessary updates to accommodate this change as these EBT chip cards will not work at ATMs without the appropriate updates.
